Role of Regulatory Bodies


A regulatory bodies are public organizations or government agencies that are responsible for legally regulating aspects of human activity. Accurate Weighing Scales is licensed under Country Wing Group and is regulated by Uganda National Bureau of Standards.

The role of the regulatory bodies is to establish and strengthen standards and ensure consistent compliance with them. Various regulatory bodies oversee different sectors of the economy and public life, including transportation, education, and the sale of food and drugs.
Regulatory bodies are also known as regulatory agencies, regulatory authorities, or regulators.

REGULATORY BODIES OF UGANDA

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory regulatory body under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Co-operatives established by the UNBS Act Cap 327 and became operational in 1989. Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets (PPDA)

The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act 1 of 2003 set up the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) as the principal regulatory body for public procurement and disposal of public assets in Uganda. Impose requirements, conditions, and restrictions on businesses and organizations

Draft, issue, and revise standards

Conducting inspections and audits

Enforcing standards by issuing fines and other consequences for violations
